We stripped our learning right back in English this week, recapping what a clause is:
From this, we then looked back at the work we’ve done so far on our evacuation story and edited & improved some of it based on our review of clauses, punctuating dialogue and reported (indirect) speech.
In Maths, we combined our knowledge of place value and rounding to round 6-digit numbers to the nearest hundred thousand using the context of graphs and data to practise. Here are the sheets from this week:
Our R.E. lessons over the past few weeks have been looking at how worship takes place in Hinduism, both in the temple and at home (Puja). We’ve been studying several key objects that are used during worship and we also looked at the River Ganges this week, and the special meaning it holds for those practising the Hindu faith.
Topic has been present throughout our English, Guided Reading and History lessons where we’ve learned about the experience of evacuees through Emma Carrol’s Letters from the Lighthouse story, the key events that were happening in occupied nations through Felix’s story in Once by Morris Gleitzman and life on Britain’s home front.
TastEd has proved a highlight each week and it’s inspired lots of interesting discussions about vocabulary surrounding our senses and food. We’ve so far looked at different types of peppers, citrus fruit and a session that looked out how we experience the sound of food.
