This week, we have been diving into our new book ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell, a dramatic story about a group of children who need to survive in the Amazon after their plane crashes.

We have used role play and active story-telling to help the story come alive. Here are Maple class becoming the plane!

This week, we have been focusing on using conjunctions accurately and effectively. We firstly focused on using coordinating conjunctions (and, but, so, or, nor, yet), discussing how these join two main clauses together and can only be used in the middle of sentences. We then practiced using subordinating conjunctions (if, when, because, since, although, because, as), discussing how these can start sentences and connect a main clause and subordinate clause together.

In Maths, we have been practicing our column subtraction, exchanging tens and hundreds. We have also had some rather extra, extra spicy Maths challenges! Take a look at these practice sheets: Maths sheets

In PE, we have been practicing some basic basketball skills, including passing and dribbling. In Science, we began an experiment growing beans with two different variables…

Good luck little beans!!!

Next week

We are really excited for our Arts week! Just a reminder, please can all of the children bring a long sleeved top and trousers for our dance workshops throughout the week.

Wishing you a restful weekend.
