This week we really thought about the meaning of compassionate citizens by writing non-chronological report on endangered animals, thinking about why it is important to stay healthy and active and thinking about how we can influence the world around us with our values.

Our learning about animals continued in the learning street with drawing, writing and researching activities.

We had an assembly with a member of Cambridge University Football Team which inspired to be active and try new sports. They have an exciting match on this week and children can go for free if anyone is interested  https://cuafc.org/

In maths we have been looking at division and identifying the difference between division as sharing and division as grouping. We also learned to use a ruler for measurement and what cm are. Spring 2 Week 3 Maths sheet

In phonics we did the different spellings of the ue sound: ew, ue, u, u-e.

In PE, we are continuing with our tennis unit and are working on throwing and catching skills.

We have signed up to Waste Week (7th – 13th). It is all about recycling to help save the planet.  All you need to do is take any old, broken or unwanted electrical appliances (basically anything with a plug, cable or battery) into Currys to receive a £5 discount voucher and get our school entered into a competition to win £5,000 of Microsoft tech!

Healthy eating:  here is a maths activity for children to try out. Thank you for all the children sending pictures or sharing what vegetables they’ve eaten to stay healthy. This activity will help children to do adding calculations which involve ‘bridging a multiple of ten’, e.g. 57 + 8. Numicon_Veg_Power_Veg_Patch_Activity_Y2

On Friday, we met as a school to think about peace in the world, linking this to what is happening in Ukraine at the moment, and what we can do to show our values and our support for people who are suffering. Thank you everyone for your kind donations.

Next week:

English: we will be learning how to write and present speeches.

Maths: we will continue to work on division and focus on its link to multiplication.

Please can you support us in making sure children have their full PE kits as we are encouraging them to take pride of this and their uniform.

You can now give consent for your child to attend our Zoology trip in April. This can be found on Parent Mail under trip sections but please ask the office if there are problems. The deadline for this is the 28th March.
