We have had a wonderful start to the new term in Robins, Skylarks and Swifts- the children have settled straight back into learning brilliantly! We have launched our new topic ‘All you need is love’ and the children are keen to explore the sights and sounds of the Sixties. We were thrilled to meet ‘the happiest person in the world’ (played by our teachers) and we asked them some juicy questions about the source of their happiness. We were inspired by ‘The Jar of Happiness’ to create our own jars filled with happiness. We will use these to help us write simple poems over the next week (Happiness is…)

In Maths we have been thinking about the relationship between repeated addition and multiplication. We looked at groups of objects and wrote a corresponding repeated addition equation alongside a multiplication ( 5 + 5 +5, 3 x 5). We have practiced writing the 5x table with commutative pairs- 1 x 5 = 5, 5 x 1 = 5. The children have impressed us with their recall and application of the 5x table- a big well done!

Next week

English- structured poetry using subordination- Happiness is cuddles with my kitten who loves me so much…

Maths- multiplication and repeated addition.

Topic- Music- responding to music in terms of how it makes us feel.

Forest school- please remember to bring in Forest School kits ready for your sessions (Robins- Tuesday, Skylarks- Thursday, Swifts- Friday).

Thank you once again for a fantastic week,

The Year Two Team.
