This Week
This week has been short but busy in Reception. We have been learning about the story of the Snow Queen. After sharing the story we decided to explore the different characters using puppet and drama. We then made puppets of snowmen and wrote instructions for our friends in the rest of the school. We also made playdough with a “frozen” theme adding glitter and different colours that make us think about cold places. We had to work carefully and as a team to make sure the playdough was just right!
During the week we got a strange phone call from Olaf the snowman asking us for advice about what to take on holiday. We wrote to tell him about what he should pack for his trip. This also helped us to think about how we can stay safe now it is getting sunnier outside during playful learning.

Next Week
We are starting the story of Cinderella next week. We are going to be writing party invitations during Literacy and learning all about time and measuring in maths. If you have a version of the story of Cinderella that you really like at home please do bring this into school to share with your class.
In phonics we will continue to learn new tricky words and consolidate our knowledge of digraphs. We are working particularly on spotting the difference between “ow” and “oa” in words, which we are finding challenging at the moment.
Home Learning
At home this weekend enjoy the sunshine! We are seeing so much improvement in the children’s reading. Please continue to share stories at home and use Bug Club too.
Have a lovely weekend. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week.
