Wow! What a brilliant first week we have had.

Pumpkins, Acorns and Sunflowers all settled in well and are starting to get the hang of their daily routines. We have a lot to learn about school but the progress that we have made already is fantastic.

Today, all children stayed for lunch. We enjoyed trying new foods and meeting our Year 6 helpers. Throughout the week, we have worked on our name writing, our arts and craft skills and played in all areas of the classroom.

Next week, we will focus on our families and the special people in our lives. We will read the story ‘We Are Family’ by Patricia Hegarty and Ryan Wheatcroft and compare this story to our own families. During group time will draw family portraits together and the grown ups will help us to label our art.

Reminders:

If possible could each child bring a pair of named wellies to keep in school. We need these in all weathers as we wear wellies to use the sandpit and mud kitchen as well as splashing puddles on rainy days!

We do provide milk and snacks daily so you do not need to provide snacks. This helps us to manage dietary requirements and ensures we know when children are eating and can keep everyone safe. All the children need is a named water bottle.

Please ensure everything that you children brings to school (clothes, bag, water bottle etc.) is named. We already have a few items in lost property so please let your child’s teacher know if you are missing any items.

Thank you so much for all of the support that you have been providing for your children at home. It has been wonderful seeing the children so happy and keen to start their time at school.

Have a fantastic weekend,

The Reception Team
