Happy New Year!
Reception have had a fantastic start to 2022!
This week we have focused on remembering the routines and expectations in the classrooms. Often this is tricky after a school holiday but we have been so impressed with how the children have returned to their learning.
We got straight back into our phonics lessons. We introduced the sounds j, w and z. We focused on word writing this week and will move onto including them in sentences next week.
If you would like to recap this at home please feel free to try reading and writing the words-
wig, zip, zap, jug, jig
In Maths, we have enjoyed counting up to and beyond 20. As expected, we sometimes struggle when transitioning past a ‘ten’ number e.g. 39, 40, 41 but we are becoming increasingly confident with these number patterns.
We have started to introduce the vocabulary linked to our new topics ‘Whatever the Weather!’. We focused on the language of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ ensuring that the children had a strong understanding of these key terms.
Can you help?
As we continue to explore weather, we will look at types of weather experienced in the UK and around the world. If you have any photographs or videos of your child we would love to see them! It may be that you can share pictures of different seasons in the UK or abroad. Please add any photographs that you are happy to share to Tapestry.
Have a wonderful weekend,
The Reception Team
